Devota

Devota (1907) is one of Augusta Evans Wilson’s late‑career novels, and it follows her familiar pattern: a morally steadfast heroine navigating a world of ambition, vanity, political intrigue, and spiritual testing. The story centres on Devota Dalton, a young woman whose quiet strength and unwavering principles shape the lives of everyone around her.

This book is a wonderful example of vintage fiction. The main text is positioned within an embellished floral border on each page and there is a beautiful colour illustration, covered with a protective sheer leaf page at the beginning of the text.

Noticeable wear, tear, scuffs, marks and creases on cover. Interior pages are still fairly tight but show signs of foxing and tanning. Upper edges of pages are guilded.
